Health Care in America

Health care in America has been one of the most debated topic in the world today. This is not the first time we had this debate and there are many frustrated Americans. We have seen presidents tackling this issue in the past focusing there efferts on the passage of universal health care, but for some reason or another the passing of health care have gone unfinished. What make this time so different? I think its because we live in the dawn of a new generation in American society and the change in American politics. In the past generation we have seen many politicians working together by putting the needs of others before their political careers. But somehow health care did not pass. I have to be honest here, most Americans want health care reform but many of the politicians in Washington do not hear the voices of Americans. It is amazing to me how so easy it is for us to vote against our own self interest. Many people from around the world are wondering how can Americans vote against a bill that is a good opportunity for us and our children to have better health care. I think the answer is in what we choose to believe by listening to the media and the opposing politicians. The health care reform is something that other nations have done decades ago, and we are now catching up. I do not want to take political sides here but I'm with the Dem's on this one. Some of the arguments that I hear from the republicans are so outrages, it almost makes me laugh. Let me explain a few.

Argument #1. Republicans say that this is wasteful spending.

I find this a ridiculous argument coming from the very same party that when coming into power with a surplus from a democratic president, decided to run up the deficit into the billions. No where did they restrain there budget and spending habits. Being in power for 8 years and yet didn't have time to pass health care for Americans. Instead they led the American people into a war that had noting to do with 911. Giving president Bush a blank check to do whatever it is he wanted to do. While we and our children have to foot the bill. I didn't see this much outrage during those 8 years. What about the average family income drop by $2000 while the rich got richer? Where was the outrage then? The housing crises was not only caused by people taking out mortgage loans that they couldn't afford, but it was because the standard of living and wages went down for the middle class during those years to where people couldn't afford the American dream anymore therefor resulting in loss of their homes. The greed on wall street caused this mess as well.

Argument #2. Goverment takeover.

We already have socialism in America. Social security is socialism. Its one thing to be against something, but its another thing to put out false information to excite people to fight against a sitting president and something that would be good for them. I don't know if there is a more unpatriotic action that can be taken from a politician or media program. I understand that the bill is not a perfect bill but at least its a start towards the right direction. I don't care what side of the debate that your on, the truth of the matter is that many years from now there will be a generation that will look back at this debate and wonder what was all the fuss about? Government is suppose to step in and do its job when the country is in need of reform. We pay taxes to the government so that it can have the ability to do its job when the citizens of that country are failing and can't sustain themselves. We pay taxes for education and health care. I don't understand the concept of the republicans that say the government should stay out of it. What do we pay taxes for anyway? NOTHING? Their idea is to take taxes from the American people and keep it by giving us nothing in return. Unless they want to fight a war or something. I don't mean to be so mean to a particular party but common sense will tell you to think about this issue with care. I hope we as a people will come to realise that the government is for the people. Not giving an hand out but an hand up.
